30th birthday event at Optisavers raises £300 for charity

All proceeds to go to Claire House Children’s Hospice

The Optisavers flagship store at Pyramids Shopping Centre has raised £300 for Claire House Children’s Hospice as part of its 30th birthday celebrations.

The team at the Pyramids-based opticians dressed in 1980s fashions to transport shoppers back in time for the two-day pearl anniversary celebration, which included a live broadcast with DJ Mark Blackman of Wirral Radio who conducted interviews with staff and customers.

Derek Millar, Centre Manager at Pyramids, said Optisavers had put on a fun-filled event for Birkenhead. He said: “People in the town are very generous and a great time was had by all. We are so pleased that this donation will go to Claire House, which does an incredible job in providing wonderful experiences for children with life-threatening illnesses.

“Optisavers sure knows how to celebrate in style – there were lots of great freebies such as balloons, bubbles, toys and sweets for the kids, as well as free eye tests for everyone who stopped by,” said Derek.

A host of competitions took place during the event, which saw lucky winners going away with DAB radios and designer watches. Gwen Heeney, Branch Manager at Optisavers, said: “The team and customers had a brilliant time at our 30th birthday and to collect £300 for Claire House really was the icing on the cake.

“Thank you to everyone who came to celebrate with us and to support our cause. We’re still offering free sight tests so we’re looking forward to welcoming many more customers to the store,” Gwen added.
