Birkenhead set to race to ‘Pyramids Paddock’
Shopping centre to ‘stirrup’ the fun with equestrian-themed event
Aintree may boast the Grand National, but this school holiday Pyramids Shopping Centre will have its very own hobby horse paddock where junior jockeys can become sporting champions.
Dinky Detorri’s and their families can celebrate the start of the racing season by visiting the free event, ‘Pyramids Paddock’, on Thursday 12 and Friday 13 April from 11am to 3pm at St Werburghs Square. There will be fun-packed activities for people of all ages to take part in, with the ‘mane’ attraction being the hobby horse competition.
Riders will be able to choose their own thoroughbred hobby horse to lead them to victory when signing up to a number of brilliant games including relay races, obstacle courses, dressage rounds and more. Everyone who competes will receive a rosette and chocolate treat, with jockeys who come in first-place positions in the heats to take to the winners’ podium.
Derek Millar, centre director at Pyramids, said the finest hobby horses had been selected for little jockeys and he ‘canter’ wait to see visitors having some fun next week. “The Grand National is a huge event and we want to bring the excitement to the shopping centre for visitors to enjoy.
“It’s a sure bet that families will have a great time getting into the spirit of the great sporting spectacle and we’re thrilled to be offering another brilliant activity for our shoppers.”
