Families receive freebie books at Pyramids
Pyramids Shopping Centre recently hosted another successful Wirral Libraries event, where families could pick up free books for babies.
More than 50 packs were given away at the shopping centre a few days ago, with the team also engaging with families with children under five who were also able to receive complimentary books. Wirral Libraries is partnered with BookTrust, the country’s largest reading charity, which runs the Bookstart gifting initiative to promote reading as a fun activity for parents and caregivers to enjoy with their young relatives.
Allan Beaumont, operations manager at Pyramids Shopping Centre, said: “We are all so pleased with the reception the giveaway event received. There were many families in attendance who came to find out more about the brilliant work of Wirral Libraries and the BookTrust, as well as finding out information on other services in the local area.
“It’s great that we have been able to provide a platform for these fantastic organisations and we look forward to more events like this in the future.”
Councillor Julie McManus, Cabinet Member for Community Services, said: “We know that reading to babies helps them build listening and memory skills, as well as being a great way for parents to bond with their children. One of the many pleasures I enjoyed as a young parent was reading to my own son, Mark, and taking delight in listening to him as he began to read.
“It’s brilliant that our Bookstart partnership is bringing this magic direct to parents and carers, who can settle down with a great read or sing nursery rhymes with their little ones.”
